Masculine And Feminine Stills.

This shot would must definitely be considered masculine as he is the only character in the shot. The lighting adds a bold effect and the light shining on his face adds to the fact that he is male. The hard lighting enables the male to appear bold and superior. You can also see the features of his face are defined and shadowed which looks stern and serious.

The could be seen as feminine as the lighting in the shot is soft this is because women are seen as soft characters. The male looks more superior due to the hard lighting this would make this shot feminine because you cannot see many of her features and she is not seen as an authority figure.

This shot could be seen as feminine as the angle of the shot is high angled making the character look small and vulnerable. The facial expression on the actor also shows fear that adds to the shot being feminine as females are seen to be weak.

This shot is seen as masculine because of the way that the female body is the key focus of the shot. Megan Fox in this still is being treated as a sex object and attracts a male eye, fulfilling the male gaze.

This shot is considered a masculine shot. This can be determined by the composition of the shot. The male is seen looking down on the woman which symbolizes that the male character is dominating and powerful, and is superior to the female character. If the background is considered also, the men in the balaclavas with the guns are positioned next to the woman which could mean that they are on her side. Guns and balaclavas ensure the males in the background have a masculine appearance due to power.

This shot is masculine as the camera angle is low giving her a sense of power and dominance. Although she is female the way in which she is holding a gun and the only one in shot this adds to her being powerful and dominating.

This shot is considered to be feminine because the woman is dominating the shot. It could also be considered to be masculine because she's outnumbered by the amount of men and the way that they are looking at her this could be perceived as her being a sex object that's why men are focusing on her.

The group of people are led by a male character (the leader) which makes the shot a masculine shot. The people are following the male at the front of the shot which clearly states that the superior character is a male. The people are walking towards the camera in an army formation which is powerful and usually male dominated.

This shot appears to be a feminine, she is looking up to the male character and it shows the relationship between the two characters. It appears that she is admiring him and she is close to his face. The proximity between the couple is short and you can clearly see that they have feelings for each other. Again he is the dominant gender as he is looking over her.

Skins Trailer Notes

Skins Trailer Notes

Trailer can be viewed here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ho69_sCkwyI

In the analysis of a TV Drama, the following things must be covered
*Define, identify, describe
* Analyse
*Justify

For this trailer the analysis was set into categories:
Editing
The trailer has been edited to be fast paced and sponteneous which could represent the fact that teenagers too are spontenous and make rash decisions, it also represents the fact that the teenagers have no sense of time due being under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
Camera
The camera seems to be uncontrolled and erratic, which could describe the behaviors of the teenagers in the Skins series. They too are out of control and reckless.
Music
The music is upbeat and the typical type if music a teenager would listen to. It becomes more upbeat when the violence breaks out and starts to get aggressive. The music sounds drunk, and is random, like the acts performed whilst the teenagers are on drugs and have consumed alcohol.
Mise-En-Scene
The teenager that climbs onto the table sets off a flare, which is attention seeking and make the teenagers seem unpredictable and reckless, a sign of rebellion.
